Alternative school

For Complex Design I choosed to design a Rogers elementary school. 

I believe that if at school children weren't pressed between the borders of "normal" thinking, they would be happier adults.

In Rogers schools kids are taken as seriously as adults, they make their own rules in their classes and art is an important thing.

 

 

I think this nominal building shows how going to school can be cool.

First, you can choose in which of the six different shaped door you prefer to enter, and then choose again. You can leave your jacket in the hall, where moveable colourful wardrobes are waiting for you to play with them and reorganise the space. Here you can also see the exhibition of the students' drawings and models, hanging from the ceiling on ropes which can be controlled as you were fishing.

Run to the corridor around the gardens of the classes, where each class can decide what kind of flowers or vegetables they want to plant on their field. And also the pet of the school lives here. They always have a pet.

 

The coolest thing is the classroom. Ok, there are no classrooms. But there are flexible walls, which can be applied by kids as well, so they can create their classrooms everyday in a different way. Or change it in every lesson depending on if they have groupwork, lecture or they are having workshop week.

 

The elevation of the school is also changing, every child gets a sticker every week and they can put it on the elevation of the school where they want to. This way they feel that it's their, and they can create huge and beautiful signs for the world with patience and with working together.
