Final project

This is a space libary. It's a place where teenagers can borrow space and they can pay with time in return.
And what can they do there? Nothing. That's the point.
You don't always have to do something.

The building is situated in the centre of Budapest, at Markusovszky square, as the indoor continuation of a park.

That's why on the groundfloor there is an opened playground, you can reach the flat rooftop from an external staircase, where you can also just hang out on a different level next to a vertical greenwall.

Inside the building it is like being in a shopping mall with different levels of corridors, little and bigger squares. It is complex to make you want to explore the whole building, and find little secret places, where you are still among people but you can be alone, as you don't see them, and they don't see you.

In the centre of the building there is a big hole in the slabs, to make visual contact between the people in the common areas. This helps to keep conversations alive, as there is always an interaction to talk about, so this is an ideal place not only for being alone, but for building friendships and relationships too.

Instead of shops, you can walk between the rentable private boxes. They are in 4 different sizes: one for about 60 people, 3 for 6-15 people, 4 for 2-6 people and 5 for 1-2 people. All of these boxes are empty, you can find flexible furnitures, to equip your private space in the way you want.

Let's see how it works.

1. The government, the schools nearby  and people who live close invest money in building the space libary.

2. In return they can tell the Space Libary Organisers some issues in which they need help. For example more flowers could be planted, old people are lonely, etc...

3. The Space Libary Organisers are cool people who know how to translate these issues into super events, which are interesting for the youngsters, so they organise events.

4. Young people attend the events, they help a bit, have fun, make new friendships and earn "space points", which they can use for borrowing private spaces in the space libary.

5. Having a private space in the city centre where they can do whatever they want with their friends is cool. Probably they will want to do it again. So they will attend an other event, maybe with more friends, they will have more time and space in the space libary... they might also organise events... and a community will be born this way.
